Northern United Place

About N.U.P.

Northern United Place is owned and managed by the N.W.T. Community Services Corporation.  We opened our doors on November 7, 1976.

We are the largest non-profit housing provider in Yellowknife, NT. We rent 84 bachelor and one bedroom apartments to seniors and people with low income.  All tenants pay rent based on 30% of their gross income.

Many seniors, new immigrants and people with mobility issues find Northern United Place a warm, safe and welcoming home. Northern United Place plays an important role in providing affordable housing in Yellowknife.

We are a non-profit corporation and operate with income from our tenants (both commercial and residential).  We do not receive  government funding to cover any operational shortfalls.

The Corporation is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors consisting of 6 members from the Yellowknife United Church and 3 members representing the Yellowknife community.  Day to day management of the building is overseen by an Executive Director on behalf of the Board.
